The XXIII work of the LICHTGESTALT series shows the asana Adho Mukha Svanasana, also known as Downward Dog.
The mental effect of the asana is diverse:
calming the mind: Downward-Facing Dog allows one to draw focus inward and quiet the mind. The position requires focus and alignment of the body, which can help clear the mind of outside distractions and create a sense of calm.
Stress Relief:The inverted downward-facing dog pose allows blood to flow to the brain, resulting in increased oxygenation. This can help reduce stress and calm the nervous system. The pose can also help release tension in the shoulders, neck, and back, where tension and stress are often stored.
Focus and Clarity: Downward-Facing Dog requires balance and stability. By focusing on body alignment and breathing, one can center the mind and sharpen focus. This can lead to a sense of clarity and mental presence.
Strengthening Willpower: The position requires strength and endurance to hold for long periods of time. By engaging in challenging asanas like Downward Facing Dog and practicing them consistently, one can strengthen willpower and build confidence in one's abilities.
Relaxation and letting go:Although Downward Facing Dog can be physically demanding, it can also encourage a sense of relaxation and letting go. By aligning the body and stretching the back of the body, tension and blockages can be released, leading to a feeling of physical and mental relaxation.
