The XXI work of the LICHTGESTALT series shows the asana Padmasana, also known as the lotus position.
The lotus pose (also known as Padmasana) is a traditional yoga posture that is often practiced during meditation. There are different aspects of the mental effects of the lotus position.
Stability and grounding: The lotus position requires an upright and stable posture. Sitting in this position will ground the body and align the spine. This can lead to a feeling of stability, both physically and mentally.
Concentration and focus:The lotus position promotes concentration and focus as it requires an upright spine and a calm posture. This stable position allows the mind to settle and focus on the present moment, whether it's meditation, breath observation, or other mental exercises.
Relaxation and serenity:Although the lotus position can be challenging at first, it allows the body to gradually relax. Releasing tension in the body can also relax the mind. This relaxation can lead to a sense of inner serenity and reduce stress.
Energetic Alignment:In yoga, the lotus position is believed to harmonize and balance the energy in the body. It is believed to open certain energy channels in the body, particularly the central energy channel along the spine called "Sushumna". This can lead to an increased feeling of vitality and a harmonious flow of energy in the body.
Spiritual development: The lotus position is also associated with spiritual growth and enlightenment. Through the practice of meditation in the lotus position, a deeper connection to the inner source of consciousness can be established. It is believed that the mind becomes calmer and can expand beyond the limited ego to experience a sense of oneness and transcendental awareness.
