Year of Creation: 2024
Medium: Acrylic, pure leaf silver gilding
Technique: Pointillism, gilding

The artwork IN DER LAGUNE is painted entirely with dots in various sizes and colors. The background features dominant shades of blue and green, capturing the mood of a day at the lagoon. The portrayal of a woman wearing sunglasses represents a dear friend who accompanied me to this Sicilian lagoon in 2022. The piece conveys a sense of summer, sunshine, beach days, and endless freedom.

The pointillist technique creates a fascinating effect. The warm skin tones of the woman and the cool blues and greens of the sea create a wonderful contrast, making the scene appear vibrant and three-dimensional. Light and shadow effects are achieved through varying dot sizes and colors, complemented by some points gilded with pure leaf silver.

This painting is a modern homage to pointillism and reflects my love for the sea. It invites the viewer to immerse themselves in the feeling of a day by the sea, in a solitary lagoon with shimmering water, to feel the sun on their skin and the lightness in their heart.

Gerhard H. Germany

I purchased one of Karin's first paintings a few years ago. It was a portrait that immediately spoke to me and captivated me. Since then, more of Karin's works have found a place in our home. I think it's great that she experiments, evolves her art, and thus stands out from other artists. With her special works from the HUMAN STRIPES series, she has definitely hit the mark. Keep it up and good luck 👍🍀
